gabi (she/they) - is a queer Brazilian artist, born in Rio de Janeiro to an Afro-descendant mother and an Italian father; and later grew up in downtown Sao Paulo.
My practice manifests through photography, painting, and design. Embracing photography as my main medium of expression. The pluriversality of visual languages in diverse cultural contexts and as they relate to my positionality experiences inspire the sensitivity and detail of my practice as an artist. A fundamental aspect of my practice is the desire to develop works that de-center dominance and foster relationality.

Situated at the intersection of community and its visual culture, their vision thrives through immersing themselves in embodied connection with collaborators and environments - their depths, blends and textures.

Pursuing long-term collaboration, their photography interacts with the vivid reality of the global majority and change makers in their quest of social transformation.

gabi is also 1/8 founder member of Queer Analog Darkroom, a self-organized inclusive photography skill sharing community located at Oyoun Cutural Center in Berlin.
